拍品描述
This is the sensational 1st product of today's highestvalued company (approx. 600 billion US$). – The "Apple-1" was designed and hand-built by Steve Wozniak ("Woz"), in the famous "electronics heaven" of "Silicon Valley", USA. – In April 1976 three young entrepreneurs – Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne – founded the Apple Inc. to sell a new kit-form personal computer. Although the Apple-1 was not the earliest of the first generation PCs, it captured computer users’ interest in an unprecedented way. From home-grown origins in the family garage, Apple Inc. has developed into the world’s largest publicly traded corporation. This is its first and most iconic product. –Wozniak’s invention was world's first PC with monitor and keyboard access! It was delivered as a motherboard only, with the peripheral equipment such as power pack and cassette recorder supplied by the user. – As Apple-1 did not have an operating system, but a so-called "monitor program" that provided the interface between keyboard entry – CPU – memory and monitor exit, more sophisticated software system such as Basic had to be loaded on cassette. The cassette-interface card was offered by Apple as an optional addition.– This 1976 Apple-1 computer ensemble No. 01-0046 comprising: mattegreen Apple-1 motherboard with gold-plated white ceramic 6502microprocessor and "Woz" signature;original cassette interface card for loading Apple-1 BASIC programming language; custom-written modern BASIC software demo program cassette; Datanetics keyboard; Sanyo VM-4209 9-inch monitor; period Stancor transformer; original "Apple-1 Operation Manual" and "Cassette Interface Manual"in near mint condition; original white Apple-1 box with circular coding label and "Woz" signature.– In February 1977 "Apple" changed its first logo depicting Isaac Newton under a "paradisical" apple tree to the one which is still used today. The original "Apple-1 Manual" included here still shows the primary logo. – The handwritten No. 01-0046 places this unit amongst the first 50 ever handmade and supplied to Apple’s earliest customer, electronics retail chain the Byte Shop, in April 1976. Accompanying the lot is a color enlargement of a room in the Jobs’ parental home that shows a stack of identical white boxes. Steve Wozniak has suggested that the coding dots visible on the outside of each box (and present also on the one here) show that the board inside had been tested and was ready for delivery. An anecdotal story relates how Steve Jobs’ sister was paid $1 apiece to assemble the microprocessor and circuit chips. – From the well-preserved green finish on the motherboard, to the nearly pristine monitor and the almost unused original manuals, this early Apple-1 ensemble has been kept in excellent cosmetic and operating condition by its owner of the past thirty years. The motherboard, keyboard and transformer come with custom-made removable  mounts for exhibition and storage. The motherboard and box have been personally autographed by Steve Wozniak (see catalogue photograph). The computer and all its peripherals are in full working condition. Only 200 examples of the Apple-1 were ever produced, very few have survived and even fewer are in the superb working conditionseen here. Apple-1 No. 01-00046 is believed to be the only example in the world with its original box; it is the finest computer of its type to have been offered worldwide! – Literature:Bob Luther, "The First Apple". – To date, the only 3 fully-working "Apple sets" in comparable condition to the one here, were auctioned by Sotheby's New York on 15 July 2012 for US$ 374,500, the 2nd on 24 Nov. 2012 by Auction Team Breker in Cologne, Germany, for US$ 640,000 (€ 491,868) and the 3rd by same A.T.B. on 25 May 2013 for the current world reward price of US$ 671,000 (€ 516.461). – This "Apple-1" computer set is 100 % authentic and in fully working condition ... – The "Apple-1" is already a legendary milestone from the dynamic dawn of the personal computer age … and a legendary symbol of the "American Dream" too.
