Geneva, with two-air cylinder musical movement, in rose-toned gold case with maker's monogram "PG" in a circle, two sets of guarantee marks and No. 195, polished rounded corners flanked by enameled leaf frieze, with polished interior, all exterior surfaces with engine-turned panels in pattern of concentric circles interspersed with diamond shapes, the lid and base with border of inset turquoises, cobalt enameled leaves and chased foliage on a matted ground, approx. width 3 ¼ x depth 2 x ht. 7/8 in. (8,2 x 5 x 2,1 cm), two case screws absent, excellent playing condition. – The two airs are nicely arranged and rather unusual. One is embellished with a lively series of crescendos and trills. The other is a simple refrain repeated a second time with increasingly complex variations. A single revolution lasts for around 27 seconds. A superb exhibition piece, with fine crisp engraving, refined decoration and repertoire.
