Composed by George and Thomas Le Brunn in 1892, it was a favourite of the music hall star Marie Lloyd. The song was revived for the 1937 comedy film "Oh, Mr. Porter!" and adapted for the theme tune of the British television series "Oh, Dr. Beeching!" in 1996.
