No. 138 inscribed on bedplate, playing two well-arranged airs, with 65 teeth in single-piece comb (complete, block of three extreme bass teeth neatly replaced) stamped "F. NICOLE", cylinder with vertical notation lines, tortoiseshell case with inset repoussé gilt relief of musical quartet, chased gold borders and hallmarked silver hinge, wd. 3 ½ in. (9 cm), cylinder 2 3/8 in. (6 cm), case lid repaired and split, in silk-lined coromandel-veneered carrying case with mother-of-pearl inlay and roundel on lid engraved "SW". With key. Fine restored playing condition. - Unusual features of this very early Nicole movement are the vertical notation lines on the cylinder and continuous pinning that does not allow for a natural break in the tune.
