A History of the Motion Picture, limited first edition signed by Thomas A. Edison and Terry Ramsaye, copy no. 229 of a limited 327, Simon and Schuster, New York, 1926, volumes 1 and 2, bound in publisher's original blue cloth ruled in blind and stamped in gilt, fine condition, light browning to endsheets. – The first official history of cinema, written by film journalist Terry Ramsaye and illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions. Edison states: "This is, I believe, the first endeavor to set down the whole and true story of the motion picture. I have been in contact with the author's researches through his years of preparation and I am aware of an unrelenting effort at exact fact. A high degree of detailed accuracy has been at-tained. Ramsaye's theories, opinions and deductions are his own."
