Hahn-Goerz (Zeiss Ikon) Film Projector, c. 1926

Hahn-Goerz, Kassel, Germany. Cinema projector of the silent film era for 35mm films on spools in 600-meter fireproof drums, with hand-turned or motorized Maltese cross mechanism, front panel opening according to the centrifugal principle, illuminated by carbon arc lamp in breather housing, Bauer arc lamp, condenser and cuvette for distilled water on the lamp housing to cool the film light, mounted on a steel column, height 1.7 m, width 1.1 m, projection head and lamp housing in need of adjustment, motor working, electrical functions not tested. - Note: In 1926 the Zeiss Ikon AG in Dresden was created through the merger of several companies. The Hahn-Goerz company joined Zeiss Ikon group and started producing under the Zeiss Ikon name the following year. During the transitional period, projectors of this type continued to be used due to the large number of existing Hahn-Goerz parts. This explains why the lamp house and the fire protection drums are provided with the Hahn-Goerz logo while "Zeiss Ikon" is found on the steel column.
