9/1200 mm for Large Format, 1970 onwards

Optical Instruments Corp., Buena Park, CA, USA. Engraved with "U.V. Scan Objective Lens S/N 003", 15 x 13 cm, front lens diameter (glass only) 133 mm, at least 3 elements, rear cylindrical mount diameter 125 mm. At infinity, an image circle of approx. 80 cm (total image circle much larger), which with some chromatic aberration (not an apochromat), produces a consistent image quality similar to a long Trioplan focal length for oversized portrait photography or for camera obscura applications. With a diaphragm from f/44 (not included) onward, there are no directly noticeable chromatic aberrations. The company is known for high-quality military optical systems, weighing only 3.12 kg, showing some signs of age under point light (rather unimportant for the application), presumably a design with the collaboration of Karl Reithmaier. Since, according to the engraving, this lens's achromaticity is designed more towards UV, it should be particularly well-suited for collodion for more precise focusing.
