With bisque head impressed "S.F.B.J. Paris, 24, France", open mouth, fixed blue glass eyes, pierced ears with earrings and original blonde mohair wig, the left arm holding a fur muff, the right arm articulated at the elbow and shoulder, with single-air going-barrel movement, dressed in the original velvet winter coat, matching ribbon-trimmed felt hat and side-buttoned white kid boots, ht. 24 ½ in. (63 cm), on characteristic velvet-covered base of 8 in. square, with crank key and Decamps stop/start. The automaton appeared in Gaston Decamps' catalogue under the title "Bébé Manchon" as well as "Bébé Frileux" ("Shivering Child"). – The girl turns her head, moves her hands apart, slowly raises her right arm to throw kisses, then returns her hand to the muff and shrugs her shoulders as though sighing or shivering. – An automaton with unusually lifelike movements, in good working order!
