BRUGUIER A GENEVE", male winding square, bird with iridescent red, green and gold plumage, articulated bone beak, head, perch, wings and tail, fine filigree grille decorated with foliate scrolls and flowers, in silver-gilt case with scalloped corners and hidden key-compartment at rear, engraved on base with floral cartouche, on sides with unusual engine-turned strapwork design relieved by pillars and diamond-form foliate motifs, the top continuing the theme with intersecting geometric bands on guilloche cobalt ground, the oval lid with interior enameled floral study and exterior lakeside view, wd. 3 ¾ x dp. 2 ¼ x ht. 1 ¼ in. (9,5 x 5,8 x 3,3 cm), small chip (at rear) and possible inconspicuous restoration to cobalt enamel, excellent working and singing condition.
